The mural of the I Art & Football Creation Award · Ekkono 2023, made by artist JUIN, winner of the first edition, it’s finished. It has been a long journey of which we hope this is only the first stop.

As an organizer and president of the jury for this Award, I am very happy to be part of this initiative that seeks to introduce art outside of traditional contexts and circuits. «If the mountain does not go to Mahoma…».

I want to give Ekkono Lab all the credit for organizing this kind of award and accepting the challenge of introducing art into their football project. Not only have they made the organization and development of this first award possible with the necessary financial support, but they have also included a space on their digital platforms to display works of art that present football through the prism of different artistic disciplines – video, painting, illustration, sculpture, visual poetry, etc. -. This not only allows one to question, reflect on and enjoy the artistic act, but at the same time helps to demonstrate the good relationship between this sport and art, although at first they may seem like two worlds that are not only distant, but even confronted.

The mural that was chosen for this first prize, artist work by JUIN, was selected among other reasons that can be read in the resolution act, because it proposed a revision of the typical soccer club murals – in which few places where there are – where the crest’s club, or male players (not female) that have been relevant usually appear. JUIN’s style seemed to us that it brought art and all its potential closer to a space for play and competition, and the theme that proposed an urgency. According to the artist, the proposal speaks of inclusion. But personally I would go further because I don’t know how to include anyone, to include a minority within a homogeneous majority. It is about the fact that this majority is not, has not been, nor will it be homogeneous except in generalities, but plural in its concreteness. And one of the most supposedly homogeneous spaces is the world of football. A world that lives in an imaginary situation in which there is still no place for diversity and that feels threatened by it.

I am also very grateful to CF Can Vidalet, a pioneering club for years in its work proposal on values, for offering all its support and a part of its space to give another reading to football, where creation, expression and diversity have a place.

We began with great enthusiasm to prepare the second edition, with the aim of finding spaces within the football fields for art, reflection and change, and new clubs that want to join the revolution.

Terminado el mural del I Premio Creació Arte y Fúbol · Ekkono 2023, realizado por el muralista JUIN, ganador de la primera edición. Ha sido un largo viaje del que esperamos que ésta sea solo la primera parada.

Como parte organizadora y presidenta del jurado de este Premio, estoy muy contenta de formar parte de esta iniciativa que busca introducir el arte fuera de los contextos y circuitos tradicionales. Por aquello de «si la montaña no va a Mahoma…».

Quiero dar a Ekkono Lab todo el mérito de organizar un premio de estar características y aceptar el reto de introducir el arte en su proyecto futbolístico. No sólo han hecho possible la organización y desarrollo de este I Premio con el apoyo económico necesario, si no que han incluido en sus plataformas digitales un espacio para mostrar obras de arte que presentan el fútbol a través del prisma de diferentes disciplinas artísticas – vídeo, pintura, ilustración, escultura, poesía visual, etc. -. Esto no solamente permite cuestionar, reflexionar y disfrutar del hecho artístico, sino que a la vez ayuda a evidenciar la buena relación entre este deporte y el arte, aunque en un primer momento nos puedan parecer dos mundo no solo distantes, sino hasta enfrentados.

En este sentido, el mural que se eligió para este primer premio y que es obra del artista JUIN, fue seleccionado entre otros motivos que pueden leerse en el acta de resolución, porque proponia una revisión a los típicos murales de club de fútbol – en los escasos lugares donde los hay – donde acostumbra a aparecer un escudo o jugadores (que no jugadoras) que hayan sido relevantes. El estilo de JUIN nos pareció que acercaba el arte y todo su potencial a un espacio de juego y de competición, y la temática que planteaba una urgencia. Según el artista, la propuesta habla de la inclusión. Pero personalmente iría más allá porque no sé trata de incluir a nadie, de incluir una minoría dentro de una mayoría homogenea. Se trata de que esa mayoría no es, no ha sido, ni será homogenea más que en generalidades, pero plural en su concreción. Y uno de los espacio más pretendidamente homogéneos es el mundo del fútbol. Un mundo que vive en una situación imaginaria en el que todavía no hay lugar para la diversidad y que se siente amenazado por ella.

Muy agradecida también al CF Can Vidalet, club pionero desde hace años en su propuesta de trabajo en valores, por ofrecer todo su apoyo y una parte de su espacio para dar otra lectura al fútbol, donde la creación, la expresión y la diversidad tienen cabida.

Empezamos con mucho entusiasmo a preparar ya la segunda edición, con el ánimo de encontrar espacios dentro de los campos de fútbol para el arte, la reflexión y el cambio, y nuevos clubes que quieran sumarse a la revolución.
